Free calculators and tools for South African money and dates

12 free, browser-only calculators for PAYE, take-home pay, VAT, credit, savings, vehicle licence discs, school terms, matric results, tenders, bursaries and SASSA or UIF questions. No sign-up and no data leaves your device.

There are 12 calculators on this page, and every one of them runs inside your browser. Nothing you type is sent to us, saved on a server, or shared with anyone - close the tab and the numbers are gone. They are estimates for planning, not advice, and each page states where its figures come from and when it was last checked.

What "browser-only" actually means here

There is no database behind this site, which is not a technicality - it is the reason the tools are safe to use with your real salary and your real dates. The calculation runs as JavaScript in the tab you are reading. There is no form submission, no account, no cookie and no analytics event carrying your numbers. If you want to check that, open your browser's network tab and watch: nothing leaves the page.

Every tool also carries the date it was last reviewed and the date it is due for review, because a tax calculator that is silently a year out of date is worse than no calculator at all.

What these tools will not do

  • They will not check a government status. No website outside government can, and any site that offers to is either guessing or phishing.
  • They will not ask for an ID number, a passport number, a bank card, an OTP or a password - there is nowhere on this site to type one.
  • They will not give tax, legal or financial advice. A number that helps you plan is not a substitute for a registered practitioner or an official ruling.
  • They will not charge anything, now or later. There is no premium version and no paywall hiding the answer.

How to get a number you can trust

  1. Read the "where the numbers come from" list at the bottom of each tool. If a figure matters to a decision, check the official source yourself - we link to it.
  2. Compare two scenarios rather than chasing a single answer. Change one input at a time - an extra retirement contribution, a longer loan term - and watch what moves.
  3. Check the review dates. Tax tables and thresholds change in the February Budget; VAT and UIF ceilings change when the law changes. A tool that has not been re-checked since then should be treated as a rough guide.
  4. Print or copy the result into your own notes. The "copy results" button on each tool puts the breakdown on your clipboard so the number survives closing the tab.

Questions people ask about these tools

Do these calculators work offline?

Once the page has loaded, yes. The arithmetic is plain JavaScript in the page, so the tool keeps working if your connection drops. Nothing is deferred to a server call.

Can I use them on a phone with a slow connection?

They are built for it. Each page is static HTML with no charting library, no tracking pixel inside the tool, and no images in the calculator itself, so the page is small and the inputs are large enough to tap.

Why is my payslip different from the estimate?

Because the estimate cannot see your fringe benefits, allowances, garnishee orders, medical scheme structure or the exact deduction code your payroll uses. It is built to be close enough to sanity-check a payslip and to plan a decision, not to reproduce a payroll system.

Do you store the numbers I type in?

No. There is no database on this site at all. The values live in the browser tab's memory while you use the tool and are discarded when you navigate away or close it. That is also why there is no "save my results" feature - we would have to store them somewhere to offer one.
