Not legal, tax, financial or immigration advice

The guides and calculators explain how processes and calculations generally work in South Africa. They are general information, not advice about your situation. They do not create a professional relationship, and they are no substitute for a registered tax practitioner, an attorney, a financial adviser, an immigration consultant or the department concerned.

Decisions about tax, debt, property, immigration, employment or benefits have consequences that depend on facts we cannot know. Where a decision matters, get advice from someone qualified and accountable to you.

Calculators produce estimates

Every calculator on this site is an estimator. It models the main variables and deliberately omits others - fringe benefits, allowances, garnishee orders, medical scheme structures, fees beyond the interest rate, and the exact method a payroll or lender uses. Tax tables, thresholds, rebates, grant amounts, fees, ceilings and interest rates change, sometimes at short notice, and a page can only be as current as the date it was last reviewed (shown on every page).

Use the numbers to test a decision, not to compute a return or an instalment you will rely on without checking the official figure.

Dates and information change

Deadlines move, fees increase, gazettes get amended, and officials sometimes contradict each other. We record what an official source published, on the date we verified it, and we show both when sources disagree. That is the most honest thing a site can do, but it is not a guarantee about tomorrow. Confirm anything time-critical at the official source linked on the page.

The same applies to job and tender listings: the official advert is the only binding version of the requirements, closing date and application method.

External links and third-party content

Links to official portals, gazettes and documents are provided for verification. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or availability. Advertising on this site comes from third-party networks; the advertising disclosure explains how that works, and an advertisement is never an endorsement by us.

Nobody should pay to apply for anything mentioned here

Government grant applications, UIF claims, job applications and tender submissions are free at the official channels. Find SA Status charges nothing for access to any government information, and we do not run a paid "apply for you" service. If someone contacts you offering to fast-track an application, release a payment or secure a tender for a fee, it is fraud - report it to the department and to the police.
