About Find SA Status
Find SA Status is an independent, non-government South African service. We publish verified deadlines, guides and calculators, we never charge for access to public information, and we never ask for an ID number, password or bank detail.

What this site is
Find SA Status collects the dates and processes that South Africans most often need - school terms, public holidays, tax deadlines, grant payment days, licence renewals, examination results, funding deadlines, public-sector vacancies and government tenders - and publishes them in one place, in plain language, with a link to the official source for every claim.
It is run on a simple principle: the value is not in knowing the date, it is in knowing the date is right and knowing where it came from. So every dated record on this site carries its official source, the date a human last verified it, and the date it is due to be checked again.
What this site is not
- Not a government website. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting for any department, municipality or public entity. We do not use government logos or imply official status.
- Not a status checker. No page here can look up a grant, UIF, NSFAS, matric or ID status. Only the official systems can do that, and anything claiming otherwise is either guessing or phishing.
- Not a place to submit personal information. There is nowhere on this site to enter an ID number, passport number, OTP, bank card, banking password or CV, and we would not build one.
- Not a paid service. Every page is free. Publicly available government jobs and tenders are never behind a payment, and nobody should ever pay us to apply for anything.
- Not a news publisher. We do not chase stories or publish rumours. We publish dates that an official body has already published, and we say plainly when a date has not been announced.
How it is built, and why that matters to you
This site has no database. It is a set of static pages generated from structured files - JSON records for dates, jobs and tenders, and Markdown for the guides - kept in a version-controlled repository. Changes to a record are visible as a dated edit, and every change to a critical category (tax, grants, immigration, elections, safety) is reviewed by a human before it publishes rather than being applied automatically.
That architecture is also a privacy feature. Because there is no database, there is nothing for us to lose, sell or leak. The calculators run entirely in your browser; the numbers you type are never transmitted. Email subscriptions are the one place we hold anything about you, and that is a single email address you gave us deliberately, with a one-click way out.
Where the information comes from
From official sources only: Government Gazettes, department and entity websites such as SARS, the Department of Basic Education, SASSA, the Department of Employment and Labour, the Department of Public Service and Administration, National Treasury's eTenders portal, and provincial education and licensing authorities. We do not scrape Google, and we do not copy text from other websites.
Where an official body contradicts another official body, we record both positions and say which one is safer to plan around. Our editorial policy sets out the standards, and the corrections policy explains how to report a mistake.

How the site is funded
By display advertising and, potentially, clearly-labelled affiliate links - never by selling information, never by charging for government services, and never by selling reader data. Advertising is kept away from the answer a reader came for, and the advertising disclosure explains exactly how it works.
