What Does "SASSA Status Approved" Mean?
Congratulations - your grant application for this month is approved.
What this status means
An "Approved" status means your application met all qualifying criteria, passed the means test (income below R624), and no disqualifying government employment or bursary was found.
What you should do next
Check if a Pay Day is listed. If you see a specific date (e.g. 26 October), your funds will be sent on that day.
If approved with NO pay date, wait 2 to 4 business days. The payment system generates dates in staggered batches to prevent retail system overloads.
If you chose bank transfer, funds reflect within 24 to 48 hours of your pay day. If you chose Cash Send or retail collection (Pick n Pay, Boxer, Shoprite), wait for the official SMS notification before travelling.
Need to lodge an official appeal?
If your application was declined or failed the means test, read our detailed guide on submitting your appeal online to the Independent Tribunal.
Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions
Why is there no pay date on my approved status?Toggle answer
SASSA approves applications before assigning pay dates. A payment date is scheduled once your bank details have cleared the National Treasury payment file.
